Okay, so I bought a Kenwood EZ-500 cd player off eBay and am gonna be installing it in my 72 in a week or so (when I'm done with finals). Thing is, it's been a while since I had to do anything with cd players, and I'm completely clueless now. The unit was just slightly used and didn't come with anything to wire it. How am I going to wire it in my car? Should the previous owner have sent a harness with it?
you could go to Kenwood's website and search for the specific product. It should give you a wiring diagram with color codes for the wires. At that point you could either cut/splice the wires into whatever harness is in the car, or if you know you've got the ORIGINAL harness you could go to any audio dealer and get a Kenwood adapter harness.
I understand that part of it...my problem is that I don't have any wires coming off the CD player itself. Should it have come with a harness that the previous owner must have wired to her car?

Yes.
Kenwood can probably supply it...but I'd ditch it and get a good head unit like a Pioneer.
Pssh. I've read several good reviews of the EZ-500, it has aux inputs, and will look at least somewhat natural in my car :p
Is that the one with the two big chrome *****? It's a nice looking unit, but I'd have to hear one for myself. In the past I haven't been terribly impressed with Kenwood head units.
Anyway, contact Kenwood - they should be able to sell you the harness. Did it come with the mounting hardware?

Yup, that's the one. I got good comments on it both from customer reviews and audio forums, so I'm confident it'll sound good. My "system" isn't anything special; I may be an audiophile but I didn't want to spend much more than $300...ended up getting a great deal on the HU and then some Infinity Reference 4x6s and 6x9s, which are supposed to sound great.
The seller claimed that it came with "everything originally in the box," and it did come with all the appropriate hardware. I contacted her about getting me the wiring harness and hopefully this should resolve smoothly, she was a very good seller...fast shipping and well packed, plus tons of positiveand 0 negative feedback.
contact the buyer, it should have definatley come with the factory harness... plugs into the back of the radio, then has loose wires which can be adapted to any specific car model's harness... but will require custom wiring in the vette.
hmmmmm you said CD player? Is this a combo unit with a built in AM/FM radio or just a CD player? My CD unit has one wire coming off it with a DIN plug which attaches directly into the back of my RADIO. The CD player gets it's power and access to the speakers THROUGH the radio unit itself. I liked this setup much better than a single player CD/radio combination. I get 6 CD's hiddend in the box behind the passenger seat and only have to fool with the wiring harness at the radio unit itself. I bought additional wiring harness for the back speakers, and radio to body harness from Crutchfields. So if you can't get what you need from the seller, you can get it from Crutchfields.
