Default Repair or Replace

Hey I have a question, I was checking out a Corvette Resto book at Barnes and Noble and something in there caught my eye. It said that damage like in the link below was not worth fixing and it is better to replace the panel.

Any truth in that? Its getting to the point with this one that I think it will be cheaper to just replace the entire body.

Edit had to put a link to it, some reason it wont work any other way right now. Working on it...

I don't think I agree with the book on this. It looks like the damage is in the door jam area, right? It also looks like the damage is mostly paint too, but the only way to tell is to take off all the paint and get down to the glass. Get all the paint and primer off and take a look. If the glass is craked all the way through in several places, then I would say replace the panel. If it is just in one or two spots, then fix it. If it was just crappy paint, then you are fine. Get it clean, and if you have more questions, take another pic and re-post.

Looks like a nasty joint to me, clean it up and redo it. Is that the backside of the door Jam? if so your lookint at the edge of the rear qtr panel where it bonds to the door jamb. Should be an easy fix. Ecklers sells a video on fiberglass repair that actually helps understand what your looking at there.
