MidAmerican is now offering carpet with foil molded into the padding as part of the carpet set.
Al Knoch also offers sound deadener combined with heat foil as an option with their carpet.
and I don't know who's carpet wilcox sells (or quality or sound/foil)
I know the MidAmerican carpet with the foil already bonded to it is rather new.
Anybody have recent experience with any of the above? All info appreciated.
Give me a week (when I'll be done with finals and back to working on my car!) and I'll be able to tell you exactly how Mid America's carpet fits. It looks pretty good so far, however...

I bought Al Knoch carpets for my 75 convertible. The fit was terrible and the carpet was very thin. I ripped them out and bought Auto Custom Carpets from Corvette America and the fit was excellent.
I believe Al Knoch supplies Mid America. Why do I think this? When I ordered my new seats the box drop shipped from Al Knoch. There have been some threads about using standard foil insulator/deadner products from home improvement stores....I checked out Home Depot and Menards and it is considerably cheaper. It is foil faced and comes in varying widths. Lay it down; foil tape it together. For the 24" width it was about $25 a roll and one roll would do it. According to the others who used it worked very well.

I am currently in the process of installing Mid America carpet in my 72. I laid down what is basically frost king brand insulation after prepping the entire interior floor area. Use the foil tape to secure it together. It works very well. I have the front done; tomorrow I will start on the rear. I had to pull each side out a couple of times to trim and check for fit. The carpet fits well and there is plenty of extra to trim. I will be putting the console back into place this weekend. By this time next week I should have the new seats in. I installed new door panels yesterday as well. Mid America's fixed insulation is not over everything; just the problem areas. But I am happy with the quality and fit. The carpet fits better than the door panels.

Today I installed the three rear pieces of carpet (MidAmerica). The fit was rough at best. It took me quite a while to get the side pieces in place. They look just OK, not great. I would think for what they charge the fit would be better. But it is in and it is not coming back out...The front looks fine; the back just OK..........
I constantly hear complaints about this or that brand of carpet not fitting properly. No matter who's carpet you buy, don't expect to just throw it in and go. It should be flattened/fitted to follow every contour, stretched to eliminate folds, then trimmed for best results. It's much much better to have MORE carpet than needed and have to trim for proper fit. When your house is carpeted...do they throw down a perfect fitting carpet and leave, or trim, fit, & stretch each and every edge?
More carpet than needed insures proper overlap, attachment, and pressure points to hold it down in required areas. This produces wrinkle free "professional" results. Now if it's way too short, then and only then should you have a product complaint.
Yeah...I was a carpet layer for years.

Put Mid American in without a problem, I did not use any glue!
I bought mine from Wilcox and it was a great carpet that fit great. I believe that it came from Auto custom carpets if my memory serves me correctly.Good Luck

I found the opposite to be true with the 80/20 carpet. The Auto cutom carpet was thin and the Al Knoch carpet has more loops(density) and a nicer overall appearance. Yes you need to glue down and trim if you want the carpet to look it's best.
