I have a question regarding engine type? Did only the L82 come with a dual snorkel air cleaner or did the l48 also come with the dual snorkels?

thats good news. I had assumed I had the l48 but I guess not. Since it had the dual snorkels. Every little bit of hp helps.

My '74 L48 had a dual snorkel on it. No other mods, so not sure if original or not.

If You are working with a 79 both L48 and L82 came with dual
snorkel.air cleaner. In 78 only L 82.

That's the best way to tell. Just make sure that the VIN# on the block matches the VIN# on the body.

On a 79 Vette, 5th digit, the one between the "7" and the "9"
8 = L48
4 = L82

In 76, both L82 and L48 had single snorkel with over the radiator air ducting.

I have a 79 L48 and also have dual snorkle. When I bought it, the dual snorkle had me question if it was a L82. Nope...it's just a L48....

Well after the initial excitement over the extra 35hp I checked my vin and it is a dang l48. Oh well still getting bumped up eventually.
