Default Engine Vin# Help!!!

Can anyone help identify what the "C " in C11S101XXX VO811CJL (Stamped on engine pad) for a '71 4SPD coupe means? Checked several resources and I found VO811CJL to be the correct engine appliction code and 101XXX are the last six numbers in the vehicle's VIN, just can't come up with the "C"

Thanks!!

Try the register. May say they have that suffix http://www.71corvette.com/

It' probably the engine block month code. C=March.

a = jan
b = feb
c = mar
d = april
e = may
f = june
g = july
h = aug
i = sept
j = oct
k = nov
l = dec

Second number is the day

last number is the callendar year.

So it's looks like it was cast March 1, 1971.

CJL = 350 - 270 HP with manual tranny.

Good book - Corvette by the numbers.

The C is for Corvette or Chevrolet. The 0811 is the build date(AUG 11).
