On the other hand, I understand Corvette drivers not waving back when forget what I'm driving and wave while driving one of our other cars...
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
He must have thought that I came through some kind of time warp.
I think a nod at the lights for a fellow vette guy would be cool but waving can seem... gay... depending on the guys technique...!
John
if they wave first I'll return it
My first experience with another Vette was a black C-6.
It was in March...still kinda cool outside...had the drivers window down and enjoying the breeze, minding my own biz.
I noticed the C-6 (maybe even 5, who knows?) following me in traffic....then he came along the right side of me when the traffic cleared...he just looked while talking on his cell phone.
Didnt wave...just looked and talked (or pretended to).
Light changed several cars ahead of us and he revved his engine...I revved mine, but we were still stopped due to traffic...he jumped his car and hit brakes...I jumped my car and kept moving cause he had slow right-hand turners in his lane.
He looked 20 something and probably had a name like "Biff" or "Skipper", maybe "James Hogwash IVth"...something like that.
I did a half assed wave when he came along side of me again at the next light ...more of a "hello again" wave than anything...a two finger salute I was instantly ready to cut down to one.
He put his electric window down to see thru my dark tint...then became suprised when he seen I had electric window too (like, it was a new invention for a 79?)
Him: "What year?"
me: "79."
Him: "nice...is it fast?"
me: "nope...a WRX could beat it"
Him: "turn at the hospital.."
me: "what for?"
Him: "so we can race to the next light..."
He revved his engine again
I revved mine.

Me (grinning): "nawwww...mine will break if I race.."
I put my window back up...but he motions for me to put it back down.
I already knew what was gonna happen next, and what I was gonna say after that...my car has a shift kit so it does bark 2nd gear...but isnt fast at all.
Light changes...he is still behind right-hand turners...I slowely let the car ahead of me get distance, he kinda races to maybe hurry and move ahead of me...I drag out 1st...then open the 4bbl and chirp 2nd right in his ear as I suffocate his ability to swap lanes.
We stop at the next light side by side again with him leaving space ahead of his car so he can be at my window again and motions for the window to come down again.
This is where I used the words I stole from the CF C-3 area and I was ready to use them.
Him: "I thought you didnt think it was a fast car."
me: "I dont...anybody can put a shift-kit in and bark a tire...besides; while your $60k car depreciates, mine goes up in value...so tear yours up all you want...your dads gonna pay for it to be repaired."
Him: "this is my car!"
He starts putting his window up...and I give him what he wants...the shaking finger to "lets race!"

I pull up drawing out first gear like I am gonna chirp 2nd again...he nails it in a cloud of black soot and tire burning rubber...I slowly move over to the left turn lane and stop at the light.
Yep...he didnt notice as he sped away he just ran a red light.
I got the satisfaction of touting him into doing it too...
*sigh*...too bad there wasnt a cop there to nail the arrogant punk.
Other than that; I have never ran across another Vette while driving mine.
Mine son met a girl driving a Red C-4 at Sonic after school one day...she was willing to trade cars...and probably willing to trade something else for just a ride...she could of rode in a Shark, he could of gotten a mustache ride....hehehehe

Was driving my "Just washed and waxed" black vette about 3 months ago. (c3, '77, 300hp, flowmasters). When I see this c5, black/black tailgating me. Looks really nice in the rear view. So i keep driving for about a mile. He's still following me. (and I am not even going above 40mph). At the next red signal, I take a chance and wave with my left hand out the window. He puts his left hand out and returns the wave. That really made me happy. He pulled up next to me and gave me the thumbs up as he passed me a quarter of a mile later. I nodded back, being the distinguished c3 driver that I am. The guy was maybe 23-24 years old.. but you could tell he really liked corvettes and was proud to be an owner.
