T-56 is done!!!
The T-56 works flawlessly and is a blast to drive. 1st-2nd-3rd are very close together and really can only be used residential and some city streets. 3rd-4th-5th are evely spaced and seem to be geared for faster driving up to legal speeds on the freeway. 6th! gear is just over kill but what a blast. With the suspension kit from VBandP the car handles great just as before but I still keep in the back of my mind aerodynamics and keep thinking about the speed boats that flip over (LOL).
There is a lot of clean up to do on the car after almost 6 mo of sitting. I cleaned the wheels and tires, started thinging about the interior (uh oh more $) and there are a couple things I need to take the car back in for. The windows stopped working while waiting in line at the car wash (grrrr). I think it is a short in the console (since it was out) any suggestions?
Also I would like to line up the bottom console with the top console. I had to order a new center console to accept the new shifter and it is not lining up correctly with the top center console (the one with the clock and fuel etc). It is only about a 1/8th inch off but I notice it and this will drive me nuts. So any of you who have had the consoles out please give me suggestions WRT lining them up and getting the screws in on the sides of the bottom one.

I have some more driving to do.
The console side are different (I think) - but the front may be similar.
There is a metal bracket ... upside down U shape that hold the front
of the console and the bottom of the guage bezel. This is attached to the
floor at the tranny tunnel. It also accepts the screws the go in the front sides of the console.
By loosening two nuts that are on studs from the bottom of the
guage bezel, you can then monkey around with the alignment of
the two. The studs go through the console front and the metal
bracket. I would suggest to first install (loosely) the two side screws
to keep those aligned. There is a fair amount of play there, so you
should be able to get it close.
Good luck

It is very tight underneath the car, the exhaust had to be rerouted, and I think no change to the floorboads for the extra pedal. A new pedal assembly was put in and I did a centerforce clutch with hydrolics. The clutch was fairly tight at first but is starting to loosen up. Cross member was modified ...I will try to get a good picture of that. The drive shaft had to be cut but I wouldn't know by how much. I think that work was farmed out to another shop. Could I measure it after the fact (Is that helpful at all?)?
I drove the car in today to work. Wish there was more sun (we have a thick marine layer).
Thank you for the guidance on aligning the consoles. I will try to get them lined up next week when I have some time to monkey with it
I did see the metal tabs comming up from the tranny tunnel and removed the screws to try to line them up. I wish I had another hand though.CARPE,
It will be worth it. Expect alot of clean up though. No one gives the car TLC like you would.
