Default engine swap

What is a reasonable price to replace a motor. Labor only. I`m having it done now and never discussed money. this mechanic has done a lot of things for me and was always reasonable.

It really depends on what is involved. Is it just replace with same gen block? Is there any fab work involved? Does he need to assemble the new engine? All these things take time and time is $$$

on the older simpler cars it takes about a day and should be about 2 or 3 hunderd dollars for a plain "swap".anything else is more $$$$$

No fab work, same generation. All the bolts are rust free, headers recently, torque converter recently. the new motor is a long block. So there are just the normal things to swap, it has an intake on it.

About a day and costs will depend on the hourly rate. A good mechanic working on the side might give you a quote for the entire job and same you some money. $300-$500 sounds reasonble.
