Default Passed another C3 .... FINALLY!

It is a beautiful day today in North Texas. I took the tops off the 'ol gal and went out to run some errands. Now that I have the Vette, I don't mind running errands now.

As I was driving north I saw a fantastic looking yellow early 70's C3 at the upcoming intersection in front of me. I hit the light so I didn't get to catch up with it.

As I was driving on north. I saw it was coming south now, I guess he had hung a u-turn in front of me.

As I passed him I waved like a madman and got a hearty wave in return.

This was the first time in 7 months since I owned mine that I passed another C3 while out driving.

It's funny how small things like that can make ones day!

That must have been the same early 70's yellow C3 that I saw in McKinney not long ago. There are not many C3's around the area an expecially yellow.

My C3 is up on stands while I install a Dewitts aluminum rad and dual fan kit.

May also put in the cast Sanderson shorty headers while I have it up in the air. Just wasn't ready to lay on my back and weld up the necessary exhaust changes.

Of course my paint is beyond hope

Hey Ryan how's the autoX coming along? How much weight did you save with the fixed headlights? I have a set of roadrace fixed lights coming my way soon.

Mine's been off the road for a month getting ready for new parts.

Yep.. Does the heart good!

A couple weeks ago I saw a nice 82 CE and we exchanged waves. I normally see only a single hand-full of C3s over the course of the summer, so any time I do, I make a point to wave heartily.

I passed a nicely factory restored Pinto last week. Was driven by an older couple. You could tell somebody put some time and money into it. I gave them a big thumbs up as I passed them. Hopefully, they got as big a smile out of it as I did.

Love to see the old cars being taken care of!

Dave, autocross is going really well. I have been bumped up in class here in Kansas because I have headers and I removed the A/C so they make me run BSP. I can't get away with anything because they all know me as the kid from Texas with the yellow Vette. Last weekend I had a race and did pretty good. The fast time of the day was a 57.6 and the guy was running slicks. My best run of the day was a 61.8 and I was on crappy street tires so I did pretty well. I beat a new Z06 by two seconds so that was pretty crazy.

I think I saved around 40 pounds with the headlights all together. I like them a whole lot better than the pop ups.

Hopefully by the end of the summer I can buy a tow vehicle with the money I make and have a way to transport the car when it has slicks on it.

Have you run any track days this summer? What are your mods you are doing? If you are at Motorsport this summer I might be up there with my friends dad who runs an M3.

I've seen c3s (2 of them), while i was out driving, but they were too far away to see me.
I saw a C2 (just 2 weeks ago) he thundered past me in the opposite direction, by the time we saw each other and passed, it was too late to wave, but we did make eye contact..
Saw a red C4 once in San Jose, they waved.
Plenty of C5s aand C6s who dont wave (except for 2)

At least once every 2 weeks I see a C3, or even C2...they are everywhere in my area, especially around Southlake...

Jr9170 - I bought mine from redvetrcr. He sometimes posts parts in the C3 parts section. Every so often he has a few performance parts for sale. Guldstrand also sells them. Be warned these things are not inexpensive.

Ryan - Sounds like you're doing great. They'd probably put me in mod clas with coil overs. If headers bump you a class you could always run ported rams horm manifolds from castheads.com. However sounds like it's going well in BSP anyway.

No more track days yet. I've had a backyard landscape project to complete. Almost done so need to book a few events.

If you saw a yellow C3 in McKinney it might have been me. Now that mine is back on the road again I drive it every weekend and sometimes throughthe week.
