Before I tore it apart and rebuilt it, the electric choke on my q-jet was never wired up and therfore zip-tied wide open. The choke cover is kind of beat up and busted and I have no idea where it is supposed to connect to. I'm not sure what its for, but there is a small plastic box with 3 or 4 wires coming out of it near the choke cover on the top passenger side of the engine - its just inside the valve covers toward the nose of the car. I'm thinking it may be for the choke, but I don't know enough about it to be sure.
I was just hoping someone could email me some pics of how an electric choke is hooked up (I can only visit the forum at work and they block anything hosted on sites like photobucket). My email is weaver.charles@gmail.com.
Its on a manual '79 L82 and looks like it once was a hot air choke.
I suppose I could just zip-tie that choke wide open again and leave it as is...
