Default Book/manual recommendations please

What books you use? What are must haves and worth buying? Any you bought that really wasn't worth the money? Or any CD's/DVD's you recommend? Basically for a novice looking to educate/work on/restore his/her C3. Just curious what people use.

I've looked at some books the forum store has and some on the NCRS site...seems to be a lot of different ones with similar type of info. The CD's on NCRS site look neat, anyone buy one or the set? I've been to helminc.com to see the manual they have, but is not exactly corvette specific for 69'. And yes I did search forums but not much luck on what i'm looking for.

the Haynes Manual for C3
Corvette Restoration Guide by Lindsay Porter

Both books, which claim to be general C3 guides, actually use a 69 for the project.

GM Service Manual for your year (used on eBay - cheap)
GM Overhaul Manual for your year (used on eBay - cheap)
GM Wiring Diagrams Manual for your year (used on eBay - cheap)
Corvette Electrical Troubleshooting manual for your year (used on eBay - moderate price)
Corvette Assembly Instruction Manual - (new on eBay or from any vendor - moderate price)

I tend to keep a Hays or Chilton manual around, too. For most things I like the factory manuals much better, but sometimes the aftermarket guys catch things the factory manual doesn't.

Newton's book is a good intro, too.

1969 STINGRAY GUIDEBOOK by Rick Bizzoco...IMHO the best manual/book on the 69.The NCRS judging manuals are great too.

And a good read for any C3 owner is Zora.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/083...lance&n=283155

Also - Corvette by the numbers

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/083...lance&n=283155

That last book is the bible of C3's. The Black Book is a real good compact book for the basics.

If you could only buy one book for a '69, to me it would be Bizzoco's. I don't count the NCRS judging guides as books, but you want to add this as well.

good suggestions all. The specific NCRS book you really should have is called, 1968/69 NCRS Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide

It has a lot of the part numbers and descriptions of parts and finishes that will help you to restore your car "as original"

they are not Corvette specific, but How to Rebuild Your Small Block Chevy by David Vizard and Rochester Carburetors by Doug Roe have both come in handy for me while working on my '71.

Well now that I thought about it -

The absolutely BEST BOOK to have is a CHECKBOOK. And the bigger the better.
