Default Rear window tint..

Called a few tint guys who want nothing to do with tinting my back window, neither do I with that curve. Just wondering if anybody knew about the window tint insert that corvette central sells. I think I have seen it on Mid-America also. How does it stay on and fit?

Had mine tinted back in '92 in Florida...its ok. Check the archives there have been a number of threads about the inserts. If I had to do it over I'd go with the insert...JMHO.

The only thing I'd worry about with an applied film is that if you have a rear defroster it might get damaged if you ever need to remove the film.

Good point! Just still trying to figure out how it stays on, if it's secure or if it something I should worry about flying off when I drive.

The plexi insert just squeezes in place. You dont use anything to hold it in.

Mine has never just fell out in about 10 years.

It will not hug the glass tight though, which causes weird distortions, especially at night.

I think when I finish my resto, I will try and get a real tint job.
