Thought I would share my day out a few weekends ago .Back ground - some time back I had installed a little 144 supercharger new alloy radiator ,electric fan holley ,elec fuel pump blah blah .I had been chasing overheating and fuel vapour lock problems around for some time needless to say my wife is terrified about going anywhere in the vette the extra few ponies and the problems have streched her freindship with my moneypit .
I thought I had resolved the lot but I was very wrong a nice Sunday drive in the local hills oh boy its a great day . Had to get fuel on the way went to the station flat battery stupid me didnt reconnect the lead so its dead .I didnt have any jump leads so bought some $ 20 rubbish this was a useless attempt I should have known ,waled a way and borrowed one of those jump starter units but the garage said it was not right he was right a penlight would have more luck.Ended up with the road side service guy after a few phone calls and another $50. I persisted we were off just a stupid error I said to my wife its fine ! about 10 miles went by with the first steep hill watching the temp gauge (I have 2 but thats another story )cough cough stop damm vapour and pump setup , I blammed a faulty connection fixed it so we are off agian . Up in the hills miss miss cough cough my excuse is bad connection knowing something else was wrong I was committed stay cool .So here I am headed up a one lane road to a lookout point praying we will make it for my sake but no we stopped damm fuel poblems ok thought I would just roll back power brakes power steer gone some idiot honking his horn behind me (should have rolled over him )but i kept my cool found a flat area about a mile down in reverse knowing my battery was down I disonnected fans etc while sorting probs , got it going plugged in fans blew the fuse no spare (idiot again) thought I would roll and keep the thing cool down the hill, all was good but then one temp gauge reads zero mmmm the other at 220 oh no 240 damm it .Spotted a stop point at a liittle park rumbelled in and parked probably 100 people looking vettes are not that commen here. Then booom lower radiator hose flies off with the static pressure and heat I have an exposed hole for my air filter as the scoop was off so where did the water go ?yep you got it straight up and the t's were off so green coolant does not go well with white cotten skirts the whole car and the occupents wet and green but warm this must have looked amazing . So after listing to 88 stories from everyone their trying to help ,who of which I was certainly gratefull I have to say I had a gutfull to say the least , so we got water in all sorts of containers from kids ,mums dads ,the local cleaner who could'nt speak english ,i couldnt believe it i had one guy wiping down my car with his wifes t shirt !
Fixed the hose shoved a bit of wire in that fuse holder and spit spat ? is that rain crash oh no thats thunder I dont belive it!!! the lovely day went to crap at least the green radiator fluid was washed off !so where were the T's at home in the shed of course it absolutly poored all the way home . The moral here be prepared for the unexpected simple things , My wife said later that night I dont know how you kept your cool today by the way what will get out this green stain from my girlfriends skirt !

Enjoyed reading the story. I guess if it was not for bad luck you would not have any luck at all. On the brighter side the next ride will have to be much better?? Good luck and

Default Glad you got home OK

That sounds like some of the rides I had when I first built my Harley.

You dont have to be crazy to own a Vette or a Harley, but it helps.

I hope you get it all dialed in soon. It will be worth the pain.
