Why can't it be ready before 2009? If the drive train is off the shelf and the chassis is already to go into production what else has to be sorted out? Build it already!!!
i don't think it is all that great looking a car .....as much as i hate to say it i think the Dodge Challenger that is coming out looks much better...http://www.allpar.com/cars/dodge/challenger.html

Exactly - by 2009, the current version of the Mustang will be 5 years old. When ford beat Chevy with the Mustang in 64, Chevy had an answer within 3 years - without the benefit of computers. It's incomprehensible to me that GM doesn't have their cycle time down to 2 years by now.
We do know that they rushed the new version of Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade/Avalanche out the door in time for the big gas price hikes. Even though they were rushed, they hit the streets at least two years too late.
i kind of like the Camaro. Although, you know it will look wimpy as he** when they "dumb" it down for the public...especially the 6 cylinder "everyone can afford one" versions.
I drove one of the Charger's for a few hundred miles the other day. (Rental). Car had 14k miles. What a joke. It is like driving an oversize Neon. No power, no handling, noisy and very cumbersome going down the road. I was VERY disappointed. Anything will be better than that car...

GM needs to restructure their top management first with people with vision.
Yup, that pretty much sums it up right there. I'd have been all over the new Monte Carlo a la 5.3L when it came out, but oh no, they've gotta stick to the FWD platform for some damn reason; apparently, the torque steer on those things (SS Montes) is pretty bad. Go figure. You'd think that they'd realize not everybody wants a 6,000 lbs. SUV that gets 15 mpg highway yet still can't get out of it's own way. And they wonder why they're in such terrible financial shape right now.
GM is up to their same old tricks again. 400 HP Camaros are not going to stand a chance with the high HP Mustangs and the new Dodge Hemi Challanger. And it on top of that it probably be way overpriced. It`s amazing how GM has always had the tools available {high HP engines} but will not use them.
