Okay, so I pulled out my speedometer cable to put some lube on it and am now trying to re-install it. I have it almost all the way in but I just can't get that last bit in (as in I can't get the other end to hook into the transmission). It's only about 3/4 an inch too far out. Any tips? I'd rather not have to get under the car as I haven't quite finished putting it back together yet

I think you're gonna have to open up the speedo gear housing on the tranny to get it to seat properly.
Crap Oh well, at worst I'll just have to drive up onto my ramps to get under there. Where on the transmission is the cable housing and how can I get at the cable?
Did ya get the right cable? Some 'ends' are longer than others. If it doesnt fir entirely in, you might have the wrong cable.
That happened on an ElCamino I had. They sent me a cable for another tranny I guess, and the end was ¼ inch longer than it needed to be, so the cable housing wouldn't fit onto the tranny all the way.... Might be your case also?

Nah, that's not the problem - I didn't get a new cable, I just pulled out the old one to lubricate it and it still looks to be in good shape.
