Default hey jet-hot, wtf?

I left my vette in my family's garage over the winter while I was at school, I come back at the end of this semester and my jethot sterling ceramic coated sidepipes are covered in surface rust by the collectors and near where the pipe connects to the headers, I am not very please, ill see if I can get some pics

I have a lot of rust on mine too. (not sidepipes, hooker headers) I bought them from Jet Hot Direct. They looked gorgeous when new. They look crappy now. I also am not at all pleased. I did call them and they offered to recoat them for me even tho I am a little past the warranty period. I couldn't ask them to do more, but I am just unhappy that the product performed so poorly and it is such a PIA to take them off that if I did take them off I would more likely just go back to the stock manifolds.... so I am leaving them on and trying to clean off some of the rust.

Some people seem to have good luck - the headers stay new-looking for years, while others get rust. I DONT KNOW WHY!!!

(hmmmmm.... maybe it's the New Jersey air)_

Let us know how this works out! I am considering getting sidepipes from them but this makes me a little weary especially at that price!!

You can add my name to the list that thinks "Jet Hot Coating sucks". I already have had mine recoated once and they still rust. The only way I can contain the rust is polish them very often and that ain't fun. Excessive polishing probably wears away the finish and they will end up looking like hell anyway. I don't recommend jethot to anyone. If I had it to do over I'd go with stainless. Jethot offers some other finishes besides sterling but they probably ain't worth a sh*t either.

You might want to do some checking first or sample a small area. I know that you cannot paint over a ceramic coating. Not sure what Jet-hot is but it must be similar.

It'd be a shame to send your side pipes back EVERY year to have them "recoated." What a PIA that would be.

I got the Hi temp Black coating. It's a little like 120 grit sandpaper but it is Tough.

Remember stainless will turn gold at the header tubes if you run it hard.

I might could live with the gold color as long as it isn't rust.
I thought about calling jethot (again) and see if they will recoat them with that hi temp black at no charge of course, but I doubt it.

My metallic ceramic thermal barrier coated "Stainless Steel" side exhaust setup peeled and blistered within ONE year.

I got pissy, took the whole setup to the local propane tank and boat metal coating shop and had them sandblasted with silicone at a cost of 300 bucks.

Then I bought 15 cans of the highest heat paint that I could get my hands on and painted them black. I used all 15 cans. Two years later and they are still nice and black.....pretty dusty right now, but soon will be nice and black again

The stainless pipes turn gold/brown. You have to polish the pipes but at least there's no coating that the polish could damage... if you want to polish the primary pipes you'll have to take the headers off which is a pita.... overall I'm glad I got the stainless hookers

At least you have something to polish. When I replace my chrome/peeled chrome/rust hookers I'm definately going with stainless.

Hmmmm

part of why I went with JH was because the chrome one always rust, and I didnt like black, sounds like all types will have some discoloration, but i am wondering if there is anyone not having problems? Maybe Ill use the header wrap myself

wondering.,....
