new covered seat cushions into my seat backs. i got the bottoms to go in. now i cant get the backs to clip in????? help me!!!!! i remember a thread about homemade tools or something like that.... its for a 79
Some of our members have bent the tabs, others have used a hook shaped lever to fish them through. You might also try some offset needle nose pliers.
My .02
i bend the taps out a little pulled the wire out of the foam a little and dug a little foam out buy the wire, only took me a week to do and a lot of bad words came out of my mouth
I used a fork from a Fondue set Really! It has to be one with a solid shank, not one of the cheap, flimsy ones as it'll bend. FFS DO NOT hold the seat back directly behind where you're pushing with the fork! Another option I've seen is to grind a "V" in a flat bladed screwdriver. If you need to pull/push the wire more than you can with the fork/screwdriver then you can loop a lenght of heavy gauge wire round it & then pull on it while using the fork/screwdriver to guide it into place behind the clip. There's definitely a knack to doing it, but once you get the 1st one fitted the 2nd should be a simple job.

I uesed a set of long nosed small vice grips grabbed the wire with the tip of the grips, pulled back on the foam and popped em in place......It only took like 20 tries eact clip, and 2 six packs

I had the same problem,I used an 18'' common screw driver.I laid the seat on the floor and was able to put one side in very easy but then used the long screwdriver to pry it in place.I did have to cut out a bit of foam so it would catch the attach bracket, and yes I did invent some new colorful words that are not in the dictionary at this time.Good luck!:
i finnally got my cushions on my drivers seat back. i used a very large flat srew driver and a garden weeder from franks worked perfect. the garden tool could use a little modifing if you need to. garden tool is long offset shank with a v shaped end. worked good for me but still took a bunch of trys on each clip BUT I GOT IT I WAS GOING now its and my drivers seat is installed and looks the only thing is i feel like im sittin much higher and i have to touch up myseat edge where the tools rubbed must get some doeskin touch up...........
