well guys, remember that '78 low milage L82 I got a few months back and I was working on?
I just listed in on the For Sale forum and it will be up on eBay by later today.
I hate having to sell it but circumstances just don't allow me to keep it at the moment.
if you have any interest in the car or know someone that does the thread is HERE
Once I get the eBay listing up I'll add it to my thread in the other section.
I just wanted you guys to know and let my CF friends have first shot at the car.
i think i'll go out to the garage now and just look at for a while. Once she sells i'm going to miss this car.
That's too bad Barry after all that hard work you put into it someone is going to get a very nice car.....I can't feel too sorry for you though with that beautiful 65 you've got.
Your asking a fair price....good luck with the sale.
Andy, deep down I am. When I first started my search for a Vette a couple years back I WAS originally looking for an early chrome bumper C3 but than I ended up with my '65 for various reasons. I LOVE my C2 but I do love the C3's as well.
gq82, yep, I did put a lot of hard work into that car and that's one of the things that's killing me on having to sell her. My wife is upset also because she loves that car and we were hoping to be able to keep it as "her" toy but she understands the circumstances and someday after i'm employeed again we will find her another one.
Big Blue, her name for this car, did teach me a lot about working on Vettes though and it was a good feeling to bring her back to life.
man i wish i waited a while before i bought my hurtin 79. between what i payed for it and what i put into it. i probably could have bought yours althou i'n not crazy about the blue on blue combo. i could have driven it back to staten island grinnin ear to ear
79, it needs new painnt anyway so you could paint it any color you want.
I know what you mean though. the blue on blue didn't excite me at first but it's grown on me and now I do like it - i wish i didn't because than it would be easier to not not care about having to sell her.
Sorry to hear you have to part with it. We all have cars we wish we had back, but it's usually at least a few years before we realize this fact Good luck with the sale, send her to a good home. You'll build another one some day for your wife that's even nicer
Chevy
yep, that's the plan.
keep the pics of the car for memories and when we are able buy another project car and build it the way we really want it!
Actually, what she REALLY, REALLY wants is a true custom street rod. You will flip when I tell you what it is - I was shocked when she told ME!!
it just goes to show that even though it's not a Vette, my wife has turned into a real car connoisseur.

That's a sweet lookin' Nomad - I've always tried to convince my wife that she needs one of those, so you are ahead of the game!!! I'm a real street rodder myself and have a street rod project going now - a '38 dodge coupe. These projects can be a lot of fun - mostly because there are no rules - you build 'em the way you want 'em. My '69 vette coupe project keeps pulling me that direction but I did stick with the original motor/trans. I had a '55 Chevy I kept mostly stock outside but rodded inside (that's the one I want back).
yep it is Scott.
One of the very few times it's actually left the garage since we bought it and with that show being about 20 minutes away it's the furthest we have gotten to drive the car at all.
You will remember I had a For Sale sign on it that day but I was still hoping this job I was looking into was going to come thru and save me having to sell it but it didn't so now it's really and truely for sale
yep, that's why I want to go with a street rod or retro-mod next time.
My '65 is all original motor/trans, body-off restored, etc so no way i'm modding that car and the '78 was such an original low mileage car that it would have been a shame to do anything to take away from that but the next project I want to be able to go into a different direction now whether it's a Vette (it would have to be a NOM Vette), or a 1st generation Camaro, or something OLD like the Chevy Nomad idea or '38 Checy, or something along those lines.
Depends on what we find and decide we want to do at the time.
My wife is really into this now and even kept asking me what she could do to help as I was working on the '78 so I found ways to put her to work!
She is great at chrome cleaning now, plus now knows how to help me take off the hood, and most importantly now knows how to help remove and reinstall the radiator in a late model C3!
It sounds like she knows when to open the checkbook too! (in good times anyway). She is a keeper for sure. My wife likes my vette best, and still ribs me about selling my '55 chevy 2dr hdtp. My younger son has a '70 Mustang and she helps out on that too! Maybe you could divert a small amount of your proceeds towards a street rod project and just start on the inexpensive (grunt) work? Good luck!!!
Chevy, that what I'm HOPING to do - take some of the proceeds and put it towards another project but i'll have to see when it's sold. The mortgage and food on the table comes first before more toys but I'm hoping anyway............
