Default Question About Value: '68 Nova Custom/SS Clone...

A family friend passed away two years ago and left the following with his wife:

'68 Nova Custom with 396 (SS Clone)
Immaculate $5,000-7,000 maroon paint work, no rust left on the body
396 with 454 open chamber heads
TH350 Trans with 2,500 stall converter
Headers/duals out to rear axle
Carb is an Edelbrock Performer (aka Carter)
single plain intake
Aluminum radiator
Interior is 'Nova Custom', no SS badging. I've been informed it is an SS Clone. Shifter on the column. Interior is all new. Bench seat in front. Shifter was on the floor; probably was aftermarket.

Widow says the car will not produce enough vacuum to idle; sounds as if he went with a radical cam with those open chamber heads. His brother, a 1/4 mile racer built the motor for him so I'm sure it is a bit on the extreme side

She is asking $18,500 but says her bottom dollar is no less than $15,000. I'm thinking its value is closer to $12,000 considering the engine is pretty radical... and not a 'real SS'. I would like to have seen a TH400 in it... Didn't look that closely at the rear diff but with the 396, I'm hoping he went with a 12-bolt.

What say ye?

Believe it or not the clone Nova's, Chevelle's and Camaro's are bringing close to 20k if not more in very nice condition. Seems the Corvette is the only car that has to have matching numbers/original to be pricey (and even that is starting to change). The other car cultures dont seem to really mind non matching this and that and they seem to love clones. 18k to 15k sounds like a good deal to me, but thats just me.
