Default Paint Question for 78 Pace Car

I have a 19k mile numbers matching pace car that has the wrong front cap on it, What will the difference be in value if I keep the cap and paint the car "whatever" color or replace the cap with the proper one and paint it back to factory specs? I have had no luck finding a 78-79 used cap and the new ones are expensive to the point to where I am leaning towards painting it as it is, maybe solid black.

Sounds like a nice car. Pace cars carry a 25% premium over a standard model. If you plan to keep the car for a very long time, do what you want with it so you can enjoy the car and don't worry about the value. However if you plan to sell it, and you want the premium pace car price, you'll need to have the stock bumper, spoiler, and paint scheme.

Swap meets are probably the best place to pick that sort of stuff up...tho aged. Or find a Corvette salvage yard. 79 stuff would work as well but 80 the design changed.

The 75-79 front ends are all the same if you want to stay original. The 80-82 front ends will fit also, but the bumper hardware will need to be changed. Look on ebay, that's where I got mine. Shipping is the killer though, $400 from CA to OH.

Is the front end in overall good shape and good alignment? Why not just replace the fenders at the bonding strips? Is it just the vents that are wrong?

What front clip do you have ? The 75-79 were all the same as far as I know.... did somebody install a chrome bumper front or a one-piece daytona front ??

Can you post photos ??

These are 80-82 vents. Whoever installed these likely had to cut some fiberglass to fit these. The rest of the front clip looks original, can't see the bumper....
