I just purchased my second 72. Can you please tell me how to disable the buzzer that sounds every time I open the drivers side door. It is driving me nuts. My other 72 does not do this and I assume the previous owner disabled it.
I'd guess that it's the "twin prong" plastic/copper switch in the steering column. These often break, and the copper prongs make continuous contact.
When you put in the ignition key, a "tab" on the end of the lock cylinder pops up, pushing the switch prongs together. Thus, it should only buzz with the key in the switch.
When you take out the key, the tab retracts/moves, breaking contact.
You can buy the regular switches pretty cheaply, but I believe the switches for the tilt/tele column are tough to find.
Not sure about your 72, but in my 69, the buzzer is part of the horn relay under the hood. Chuck
