Default Polished stainless mufflers?

I had two "cheapo" (Mid America) polished stainless mufflers installed on my '76. I bought these because they were specifically designed for the Corvette...advertised as the "hideaway" type. They tuck up under the rear fenderwells. Unfortunately, they sound poor and it seems there is a loose baffle inside, so upon acceleration, there is a rattling sound.

I like the look of the polished stainless, but in my initial search, I didn't find any from one of the "premium" manufacturer's (DynaMax, Flowmaster, etc.) that were made specifically to fit our cars. I really don't want to "adapt" something.

Any recommendations?

Gracias,

Nacho

Check the Magnaflow.com site under universal mufflers an match one to your stock size. I think the part # 14336 is the one that works on my 1980. Sounds great, I got mine online at Performancepeddler.com for about $75.00 each.

If you want aggressive sound , go for the flowmaster super 40 series.
they are monsters !!!

make sure your pipes are atleast 2.25 inch so your engine can "breathe" better.

Exhaust is 2.5". The only reason I purchased the Mid America kit was they were low-profile (called "hideaway" mufflers) specifically designed for the C3. They came with the correct tips and bends. It was a simple weld-on deal for my muffler man, but when I started the car for the first time, I was like

Do any of the Magnaflow's, etc. come with the correct parts or must I piece something together?

Just recently installed Magnaflows (Stainles) they sound great, and look great Can't tell ya how they sound going down the road though... as I'm still in the process of the restore. I did, cut off and reuse the old hanger bracket that was welded to the old muffler.

I had a local muffler shop put on true duals so they made the proper bends and had stainless magnaflow tips installed on the mufflers. You will love them cruiseing down the highway. At WOT they really get loud. Check out Corvette Central I think they sell them with the as a bolt on.
