I now know why there are so many 68-early 69 Corvettes with solid black grills. I just got done redoing my new solid black ones to look close to what I think they should look like, I hope I make the grade amoung the first class group on the Corvette Forum, AL.
Thanks guys!! The only mistake I made was not painting the bottom grill bar. Not a biggie after spending hours taping them up the one bar to paint will be a cake walk, I'll post the corrected grills tomarrow. AL.
looks great! i have an early '68 to. how did you do that?
Thanks!!! To answer your question plan on spending some time taping them up. I used a popular silver use on GM and Ford early grills. The color was close its just had a little more metalic then the factory used. I had used the fine line painter's tape and they turned out okay. The hardest part is the ring around the directional light inside the grill bars. Just cut your tape and use a tiny screwdriver to help position the tape where you need it. AL.
silver paint pens from wal mart....$2.99, hobby section
That probably would have been easier but everything I've done on this 68 has been the hard way. I spent hours taping them up and still made a "Bo-Bo" by not painting the very lowest grill bar, I'll get that taken care of in the morning, AL.
Used them for interior work on my 68 Camaro, far easier than a paint brush
That grill looks awesome, I may have to do mine now
Thanks, Cool user name . You may have read my other post because I know the dupe police are whatching , there a bit tuff to do but not real bad, just take you time. If interested I post the paint I used on mine. I think it looks a bit nicer because of the metalic in the paint (sorry NCRS). Good luck on your and if you need any pointers on doing them I'm just a key stroke away AL.
