I'm redoing my 69 BB. Original color lemans blue So we're not keeping it original. I was thinking medium metalic blue or red red not the original orange red color GM had. I am going with header sidepipes and some type of aftermarket wheel. Believe me I've been looking at all your C3 pictures. Does anyone have either of these color combinations with sidepipes and wheels? Please post if you do. I did'nt think this was going to be as difficult as it is.
Mine is the original Monza red with original rims, but I'm kind of sick of red to be honest. I absolutely love the look of a black chrome bumper with chrome rims, side pipes, and the chrome side vent inserts. Basically Sacredgrooves avatar-- awesome looking! I also like the steel city gray color, especially because you don't see a lot of those.
It won't be original, but I'm really tempted to switch from red to black the next paint job.
I have not shot mine yet,but what I did was,I looked around on the street till I found a color I liked. Then I went to the dealership where that model of car was sold and got the paint code. Easy, and its better seeing the paint in the real world than it is trying to pick a color out of a book. By the way,I chose a Chrysler color.INFERNO RED!!!! It's a darker red and it has a little gold metal flake in it. In the sunshine it is awsome.

My dad had a 65 vert that was nassau blue on nassau blue and I love that color combo so I say paint it back lemans blue. That color is pretty close to nassau blue.

If you go red. Look into Garnet Red, I had a 69Z that color and it would make most reds turn orange when I pulled up beside them. Of course that inferno red in the earlier post looks real good. Larry
[quote] No offense...but why do people ask others about what color to paint their cars?
I could never understand this
It's a matter of personal taste
I would paint it the original color [end quote]
Asking for others opinions sometimes sheds some light on things we may not have considered ... color combination with the interior, examples of others, etc. Although in the end of course, its your own decision I think it helps those in this situation (I also was a bit tired of red, didn't want the original orange, so went to a C5 shade, Navy Blue Metallic). This shade of blue I would consider darker than a "medium blue". Under low light its almost an indigo or just a shade under black, in bright light the metallic navy looks almost a medium but not as light as electron blue. I don't think you can wrong with the colors you've mentioned ... look on the forum in the photo galleries to get some other ideas!

It's a matter of personal preference on the color, honestly...I will agree that I'm not wild about the original LeMans blue for the C3's, but the Lemans blue that's on the C5's and C6's looks sharp, and similar to the Electron blue mentioned further up in the posts.
As for me, we're going to repaint our '74 C3 with a Nissan paint color - Daytona Blue. It's the blue that's running on the 350Z, and just looks sharp, and looks better than the horrible peeling Steel Cities Gray that's on the car now (not an original color; the trim code says the car was red originally and I am tired of seeing red Vettes of any year, personally).
