Default Engine durability

In the C3's:
1) is one engine more durable than another?
2) Life expectancy of a maintained C3 engine?
3) All C3's are carbureted - right?

Thanks,

- w

1) Not necessarily
2) Upwards of 200,000 miles IF constantly kept in good tune (not likely), NEVER raced or abused (REALLY not likely) and given oil changes every 3000 miles (somewhat likely)
3) True EXCEPT for the last model year (1982) when 'Cross-Fire' throttle-body fuel injection was adopted

I've heard some people say that big blocks are less durable than small blocks, due to the large rotating assembly mass. I have no idea if this is accurate or not.

Got 129,000 on a 78 L-82 4 bolt main.....strong motor...raced in eighties for 5 years..can still shift at 4500-5000 rpms...still going strong...only replaced one valve spring and intake gaskets.....4 speed 3.70:1 rear...drive it hard...expect at least 180,000 miles before it craps....maybe..
