Default Should I start my engine??

Hi all, I have a bit of a dilemma. My engine and trans were rebuilt about 1 year ago. I put them in the car over the winter (garage heated). I don't plan on the car being on the road till next summer now since I have spent my budget for this year and still have no brakes. Question is should I start the engine now or should I wait until I'm ready to put it on the road? Can an engine be run in without actually driving it. Is there any problem with it sitting idle another year as long as it is kept dry?

Advice please. Thanks

I kind of had the same thing going on when I rebuilt mine. I went ahead and started it and got it broken in but I would start it up about every two weeks after that just to circulate the oil and get the belts turning. Just be sure you get it up to operating temp every time you start it or it will get condensation in it I have been told. But you know you want to hear that thing run!

I would say start her up get her broken in and make sure everything is ok. God forbid anything is wrong it would be better to find out now instead of waiting a year and finding out when your ready to cruise
