HELP! Problem with steering column!
After searching this forum I soon realized that it was the ignition rack that was broken. (I have a -71 T&T steering column)
I'm trying to changing the rack with the steering column in the car, with no luck so far....
I have manage to get most of the part's away, except for the #24 housing (refering to Jim Shea's papers), which I think I must remove before I can reach the rack.
But housing want come loose.
Why can't I remove the housing, something is holding it in place? (The pivot pins #35 and spring #17 are already removed.)

I think (from long-time ago memory) that to get part #24 off you have to find and pull out the two tilt pivot pins (#35) either side of the body of the column. I can't remember what the heads of them look like - I think they have a threaded hole into which you can screw a couple of small bolts to act as pullers for the pivot pins.
Apologies if I'm wrong - I did mine a long time ago and my memory is rusty.
Should be no problem doing this with the column in the car, IIRC.
The trick was to bend it up pretty hard, and at the same time pull it back.
I was afraid to damage parts inside and didn't bend as much I should.
Then the two shoes was released from the shoe locking pin.
Now I just have to wait for the new parts.
