Default Eckler's hoods?

So, after ordering a Vanacor L-88 hood and having it not fit at all...I'm buying another. I need a short style L-88 for my 72. Does anyone have any experience with Eckler's hoods in terms of how they fit? I need something that won't need much work to look good.

Hello, most need a little work to get a good fit. I did have good luck twice with hoods from Ecklers. You do have to cut out the rear area of the high rise part of the hood if you want that open.

I installed a Ecklers short L-88 on my 72 five months ago.

I was very pleased with the fit and finish, the only problem spot was near the hinge pivot point where the fender to hood clearance got a little tight. It fit, it was just down to 3/16 or so. Need a little dressing up on the hood edge.

The car the hood was installed on was stripped of paint right after the hood was placed, and we then saw that there had never been any front end damage, so the factory alignment was still there,

Now if I could only get it back from the body shop....

Default Stinger Hood

The Ecklers stinger hood fit almost perfect. I had to remove about 1/8 " of fiberglass from under the hinges to get the front down , but other than that I aligned the latches and it fits better than the stock one. The quality and fit were better than I had expected. I sure like the look. Not everybody's cup of tea, But Im very happy with the Ecklers hood.

Yeah, I think I'll go down there just to meet up with 'em again...oooorrr not.

Thanks for the responses guys. I know almost no repro body parts are simple bolt-on and go pieces, but my Vanacor hood is just unworkable - I'll definitely be going with Eckler's.

For what it's worth, Vanacor has so far been very helpful in terms of returning the hood, and have agreed to refund me shipping once they verify that the hood is in fact defective.
