With all the complaint threads going I figured I'd add my own. I brought my 75 to the repair shop almost 2 weeks ago to get my AC going. This and the alignment are the only two mechanical things I haven't done myself. After about 2 days the guy calls and says my junkyard compressor is no good. Fine. Told him to get a new one. So I call at the end of last week and he says he's "waiting for parts". Don't give me that $%#!. I can have parts from anywhere in the U.S. on my doorstep in less than a week. I suppose he figures it's a play car so it's no big hurry. Summer here is too short the way it is. I figure on picking it up by the end of the week whether it's done or not.

I'm responsible for repairs and maintenance on 7 cars. I spend a fair amount of money every year for this. I pay fast. The garage I use is not cheap but they listen when I talk and they get my stuff done. I don't need appointments there either. Now if I could only get them to drop those charges for diagnosis or shop supplies.........

I have a repair/resto business....I would drop the diagnostic charges if the customer tells me which part is bad. If the customer guesses wrong...oh well.... The C-5's with their fly-by-wire electronics can be a bixch to trouble-shoot. We seldom charge the actual time. Shop materials? I only recently started charging for these...on a typical brake job, we use a can of brake cleaner and 5 shop rags. We only pass on the real costs. Now if you want to see who the real crooks are...look at all the fees on your phone bill.
