I ordered a radio from Ecklers and had it sent regular ground UPS from Florida to Louisiana. when I looked at the invoice shipping and handling was $26.00 that is a bunch of actual UPS charges were $8.00 so I paid $18.00 for them to put it in a box I know who will never get any more of my buisness. do they think people are stupid? sorry I just hate getting ripped off.
They sent me the wrong color floor mats so I sent them back and they told me it would take 3 weeks+ for them to process it. They recommended I just place another order and they will credit me back the money in a few weeks.
Yeah, it's unfortunate but a lot of companies see shipping costs as just another way to make a few extra bucks.
Take Summit and Jegs for instance. "Free Shipping" but a $10 handling order is tacked onto each order regardless of order size. It must really tick off people who only need to order a $3 part... Just charge the actual shipping costs instead of burying the cost in the merchandise price or in "handling fees"

Thay did the same crap to me,they charged my card for a bushing kit that 2 weeks later i still didn't have.I called them and was told it was on "backorder".I say well when can I expect it since it's paid for?I get "We will ship it as soon as we get it".I told them just to cancel it credit my visa back, which took 3 days, and I called summit racing and got a better kit for less money.

true, true, BUT - I ordered a small cheap part from Summit once, and needed it so i was willing to pay the $9.50 (I think) handling charge. About an hour later I realized there was another small part I wanted as well. I tried to modify the order but couldn't do it. I sent them an email and they sent me the other part and waived the handling fee for the second order.
I bought one of those non functioning tach boards from Ecklers then tried to contact them about it and they totally ignored my emails!! Thus no more orders for Ecklers.
I've ordered several hundred dollars in parts from both Eklers and Summit. My brother (has a drag camaro) has oredered a ton of parts from both suppliers. Never had a problem with quality or delivery.
Maybe its they have a prejudice in some zip codes......
Yea, I agree about Eckler's and Fast Corvette. Did you get an invoice with your parts? I had problems getting invoices with them. They don't like to show you all the facts.
Hmm....I had good luck with Eckler's the last time I ordered from them...They at least state whether a part's on backorder or low quantity on their webpage, something Zip doesn't do.
I guess it's just something different for everyone...
BTW, I agree that the handling fee with Summit is kinda jacked...But at the same time, I'd still order from them as they tend to have quick delivery, they almost always have the parts in stock, and they have a good online catalog.
I ordered a clutch pedal from ecklers last friday, by phone, they were the only one's that had one in stock [ that i found], every one eles, [our vendors] had to back order 3-6 wks. the clerk went in the back to actualy see that it was there. i recieved it Tuesday.
sqaure deal.
A lot of the big guys like Ecklers and Mid America charge a shipping rate due to the amount of the order not the weight of the package. Higher prices means higher shipping charges.
