I decided to drive the vette to work since it was nice out,and the last 5 minutes of work i see one of the young kids that works in the street department cominginto the shop heading for me.I just had a bad feeling,he started stuttering real bad and nervous,i just looked at him and said come on lets go look at it.Hes got a mental problem alittle bit so i wasnt gone to get pissed off at him he was so sorry and appologetic(sp) i told him to calm down and relax.Wasnt bad just hit the front bumper and scraped the clear coat up,hopefully can sand it out and buff it.He was almost in tears driving away.
you did the right thing. Its the a--holes that seem like they dont care when they tear your stuff up that get to me. It sounds like he was genuine and was shook up. He probably dreaded coming to you because he thought you would chew his head off. Too many people do not give a hoot about others now a days.
Hope it all comes out ok and everything is easliy repaired
That sucks, but at least you had an honest person hit you. Most people would've kept on truckin'.
Lets hope you get it fixed up easily. For sure you have a new friend for life in that kid. Someday your new friend will come to your aid, I have a feeling about that happening.

And he was man enough to fess up. You handled it great!
Patsnitro, you are the man!
being that my son is special needs i can say that you just made my day.
most people in your shoes would have been calling him all kinds of derogatory names for the mentally handicapped.
maybe if it needs a lot of buffing you can get him to kick in some labor
and help you repair it, im sure it would make him feel a lot better.

If I ever saw someone yelling at someone with special need I would have to go talk to the person that is yelling.
Give him some passenger seat time (and show him a great time, if you know what I mean) in exchange for his help with sanding and buffing. This isn't meant to be positive reinforcement to encourage him to do it again, , but it can be a way for you to show that you have no hard feelings about it happening. You may also add another Corvette enthusiast to the crowd.
I have had special needs friends in the past. If any of them came to me needing help, or if I saw them getting yelled at, I'd drop anything I was doing and go help/defend them.
