Has anybody used these new clay bars to detail the paint job? My car has some embedded dust and contaminents in the paint and i am thinking about trying this.
works great! it's like a big eraser to pull all the junk out of your paint. after doing it, out your wax on and feel the difference with the back of your hand. it feels totally different and makes your paint about a foot deeper looking!

I was browsing through vendors at Bloomington Gold yesterday and came across this guy detailing a C5 hawking his products and as I walked up he was working with clay.
Well I stayed for another 30 minutes and walked away with $50 of his products because the application and demonistration was so effective. The guy is good and name is Adam for Adam's Products and I'm sure his products are on par with Meguirs and everyone elses but what set him apart was the demonstration of technique. He even has a CD which I thought was great to underscore the technique used.
I've been using clay for at least eight years and it does what the guys above explain. Finish it up with polish and wash and you're good to go.
Back then (98) I had done my 78 with clay and was sold from there on. Even today, the finish feels good due to clay.

Just make sure you keep the surface wet with lubricant so you don't scratch the finish. Clay bars really do provide you with a nice clean surface before you polish or wax.
