Default Cam Switch Question....

* Advertised Duration IN/EX: 262/268
* Duration @ .050 IN/EX: 219/227
* Gross Valve Lift IN/EX: .468"/.489"
* LSA / ICL: 112/108
* Valve Lash IN/EX: Hyd/Hyd
* RPM Range: 1400-5800
60102 Description- Hydraulic: Mid-level performance street cam with excellent drivability. Exceptional replacement for "muscle car type cams" with automatic transmissions. Works well with stock type exhaust Manifolds and dual plane intake with mild 4 bbl carb. This is an Awesome 4X4 and performance marine cam where "Dry" exhaust is used. Improved valve springs and roller rockers recommended.

I have the Cam and Lifter set.

Ok guys, just a quick question, i pick this camshaft out and got it for my part of my Xmas gift. I looked at all my questions before i bought it and thought it was the perfect canidate, and i thought id try out lunatis New series of cams.
Now my questions are , when i decide to put it in after i get my car running on the road, witch i still need brakes and finish replacing my heater core and polsihing rims.
1.Will this camshaft work with stock 78 l48 stock heads,rockers,intake, and carb, and manifolds ect...
2. Guesses on my Mpg after wards
3. Guess on hp/tq gain.....
4. Any vaccum problems
Well thats about it for now.. I was jw because i will most likly install it at the end of the summer or during thanksgiving break or xmas vacation(yes i know its a long time but ya.)

Thank you

More likely than not, its lift is more than your OE L48 springs & rockers can handle. OE L48 has relatively low compression (about 8:1 to 8.5:1) ... this cam may be a bit much for that CR. You should have asked your "now" questions before you chose this cam or any cam. It also matters quite a bit what type of transmission you have & what rear gear ratio you have. Get your brakes & steering in tip-top shape before any hi-po motor stuff.

Just a cam change might do more harm than good, save a few bucks (or ask for MORE birthday loot!) and change the heads at the same time. Cam + heads + headers is gonna get you the best improvement, they all work together.

My plans are to get heads and headers before i install. I am saving up my money half for brakes other half for Hooker super comp side pipes(very expensive though).... Now when i do heads i want to put the shim ultra thin gastkets in to improve CR..
I was looking at Vortec heads, or even a cheap set of performance heads, iron of course for cost.

Right now im just getting all the interior and exterior, and mechanics running, then once its all in dd shape i am putting higher performance in. Thats why the cam and lifters are in my room begging to be installed.

The cam is a little too much for stock L48 CR. It will be great with better heads - with 64cc chambers you'll bump the CR to somewhere around 9:1. I'd get the sidepipes last, with the 1 3/4 primaries you'll loose some power as these are a little big for a mild SB.
