I have a 69 with factory sidepipes and I am able to jack the car using the frame side rails. You have to be extra careful that you don't place your jack where it will interfere with the sidepipe mounting bracklets. Not sure what type of sidepipes you have.
I've been using two jacks. One at the curve on the frame as it bends inward behind the front wheel. Jack it up enough to get the second floor jack under the frame. I jack up the whole side at this point with the floor jack. To lower - only go down far enough until the front jack holds the car and remove side jack...

i dont have side pipes, yet .i want a set i think they look real good .on some of the cars the pipes seem to hang lower than others .wanted to know before i put a set on .thanks for the replys

i have to get a low profile jack set at an angle, going from the front of the front tire, and put it under the lower control arm..jack it up enough to get another jack under the front crossmember...PITA, but price you pay to look sexy...

I drive up onto a set of 2x4's. One piece about 4' long then I attached another pise about 2' long atop that. I then drive on. My front is lower than most.
That usually gives me enough room to get a floor jack underneath the front crossmember. I put a piece of 2X12 on top the jack saddle before I start jacking.
I have used Z-man's method also.
