i have a 71 that has a chirping noise in the pass side rear comes and goes but lately most of the time. tire is off caliper is off now how do i go deeper into the emerg. brake it does not work but all the parts are there i can move emerg brake pads back and forth and it sounds like the noise how do you go in deeper so i can see the brake parts i can not figure out how to get the part the stud are in off thanks

Are there rivits holding the rotor on? They can be drilled out and thrown away. If the rivits have already been removed, sometimes the parking brake shoes hold on the rotor. Make sure the shoes are fully retracted by rotating the brake adjuster through the hole in the rotor. Finally, everything might just be rusted and really frozen on. You may have to tap the rotor with a hammer to free it up. Warning - if you hit the area of the rotor where the pads touch, you will damage the rotor and you'll have to get a new one...

Keep working it, it will come off. When it's off, you will see that the parking brake is just like old fashioned drum brakes.

i have the rotor off i want to go farther in to check wheel bearings ?

OK - like Scotty said, now you need to press the spindle out of the bearings out if you think they are bad. It's probably best to remove the whole trailing arm, then remove the drive flange from the spindle. You will then be able to press the spindle and bearings out. Some people have done this while on the car, but I would think it is difficult...
