When I got my 71, it was pretty rough. The previous owner was a bit on the wild side and the Vette had suffered for it. Front end (non original) was wrecked, engine blown, and there was a bullet hole in the drivers door and thru the door jamb. When I disassembled the car, there was evidence of a repaired bullet hole in the gas tank too.
Last night I was working in the rear compartment removing the old carpet padding (going to put in dynamat) and found two more bullet holes thru the wheel well, with a third exit hole thru the rear panel (probably the gas tank hole).
Now before Bankok Dean starts hollering about this thread sux w/o pictures, let me say that I had my digital in my pocket, really didn't think that there was enough of a visual to make it worthwhile. Lots of dirt, old glue and rough fiberglass.
The funny thing is that I have had the body off, and the underside of the car has been stripped and painted, including the rear wheel wells. It has been a while, but I don't recall glassing over any holes in the wheel area, but from the outside, there are no holes.
Whew, I thought this thread was going to be about those fake bullet hole stickers that all the rednecks put on their trucks...
Kinda creepy that he's got all these bullet holes through the car. Are you sure they're bullet holes and not a hole caused by something getting kicked up from the road? My dad's Jag had a piece of rebar thrown up along the rear brake rotor, into the gas tank, and then dented up the rear quarterpanel.
It looked like a bullet went through it once we pulled it out...
Reminds me of my buddy Ken's old Vega GT ... shotgun hole in the door
and a few arrows through the rear quarter ... target practice after
some drinking and partying.
So, was the previous owner fooling around like this - or being shot at ?
Your car and my car must have had a shoot-out. I found 5 spent .38 shells under the carpet of my '75. Sounds like my car was doing the shooting, and won!

Well the "story" was that he was running from the law and made one of those smokey and the bandit u-turns taking fire as he passed the cop going the other way.
While looking for the build sheet, did you find Jimmy Hoffa's wallet?
I finished a convertible transformation on an 80 that had been rolled. I found some serious drug paraphenalia buried under all the broken glass, but haven't found Hoffa's wallet.
Oooh, like your 68. Had a 2 top blue 68 L36 roadster myself. 68's are underated. That was an incredibly nice car.
