I had the same thoughts after I purchased my first vette, a 80 L82 with 16K all original with documentation. I was and still am new to vettes and began to realize that I had a nice find and was reluctant to drive it a lot. I even was contemplating purchasing another DD because they are so much fun to drive and leaving the 80 for the weekends and good weather days. Well $ and spending time on the forum convinced me that I should drive it whenever I want and if original parts break down have them rebuilt or replaced. Just my .02cents
I drive it around town every nice weekend and to work (85 mile round trip) about once or twice a month during the good nice, but not too hot, weather. I'm taking the tops off this afternoon, loading up the wheelchair, and taking my lovely wife to a local Mexican restaurant where we can eat outside and see our car.
I have antique insurance on mine, so I am limited to 2500 miles a year, but last year I drove it 2500 miles. I love driving to work early in the morning with the t-tops and back window out.
It seems that the only driving I get is to the gas station to put $10 in it and take the long way home. By then it back on 'E'. As soon as I get a couple little bugs worked back out of it, it will be on the road a lot more. The C3 is a nice car and should be driven.
The vette is my weekend ride. Dodge truck gets parked Friday afternoon until Monday morning. Got the keys in it every weekend the sun's out, twelve months out of the year here in North Carolina.
Try to driver her Monday's and Friday's - people at work tell me they know what day of the week it is by what car I drive...course the other three days aint bad either driving the Z
I put about 2K a year on the '82 as my commute is only 14 miles round trip. She gets weekend time as well. I'm taking both of them "home" to Bowling Green in September for the 12th Anniv.
I take it for a Sunday drive most weekends, weather permiting...maybe 500 miles a year or so.... yea, I am keeping the miles low, but not depriving myself by not driving it... I'd drive it more if it were a convertible though.....Just a short spin works for me
