Hi Guys, I am looking at another 1976 Vette, and it looks very solid all over. I have looked under the car and the frame looks very neat. I have inspected the front support bar and radiator support and both seem rust free. I have poked around inside the door jambs and at the edge of the windshield and all seems nice. However, all along the area below the windshiled, where the wipers are bolted on, the previous owner has applied some type of clear looking / hard sealant all over everything. The seller insist that this was done prior to his pourchase as a preventative method because the PO ahd heard that these cars were prone to leak and rust in this area.
Can you see anything from underneath the dash? Rust stains, drip marks, etc?
Also, you might try removing the kick panels and taking a look at the #2 body mount area. If it leaked, you should be able to see some remnants from it. While you are there, you can take a sneak peek at the floor by pulling up a small bit of the rug.
