Default Over due newbie introduction

Well, I have been on the corvette forum for a little over a year now first posting Feb/March '05 on what to look for in buying my first vette. Through the help of this forum and after looking at several cars just when I was about to give up hope I purchased a 69 convert from a forum member in Sept '05. Here are the stats on it when I bought it.

69 Convert
L46 (original motor)
Hardtop included
4-speed T10/Borgwagner tranny
4.10 rearend
PS, PB, AC (not working), PW
** I bought the car from an owner in Philly (he now has a C5) for which he owned the car for 3 years having purchased the car from a guy in Boca Raton. I was able to track down the owner back to 1989 or so where he told me that he picked up the car from Lakeland with motor, paint, and body completed but needed everything else and he put the car back together with a buddy of his over the course of 2 years using 2 donor cars. Also the engine was rebuilt then with a lower compression to 9~9.5:1 along with some other performance goodies added. At this point in 1991 when the car was back on the road again for the first time the odometer was set to "zero" since it was basically a totally rebuilt car with no history prior to this point and also the drivetrain was redone.

Now forward to Sept '05....I buy the car and bring it back down to Florida. It as this point has about 8,000 miles on it so not driven much since 1991. Anyway, I have the car checked out by a local vette mechanic here in South Florida and he was impressed with the condition, no rust, and attention to little details like all the rubber bushings on the frame/body replaced along with suspension recently redone with VB&P and SS calipers (owner in Philly did all this work along with a couple other things).

I put 2,000 miles on it till Nov 10th '05 as this is when I dropped off the car to have it tailored to my wishes. I took the car to Corvette Masters in Orlando based on a couple recommendations I got from both here on this forum and through another totally unrelated recommendation. This is what we did to the car...

Installed New Top
Added Viper Paging Viper Alarm with Power Door Locks (I really like it a lot)
Dewitts Radiator (nice and cool now for Miami heat)
Replaced Radiator support (only part a little rusty on the car)
Rod 6 speed tranny (I like it a lot and is easy to shift now cruising 80mph @ 2,300rpms)
New Clutch Assembly
New Driveshaft
Flywheel turn & re-ring
New 3.70 gears totally rebuilt (new yokes, etc.)
Fiberglass 330# spring (old one had a 2 small cracks starting to show)
Gas Tank & Sender Unit
Dyno tuned carb to set at 12.5~13 AF ratio across entire band (see dyno sheet below)

This was all finally completed after almost 8 months of some very tiresome waiting times, but in the end I am very happy with the results. I feel the car is now mine since it is now 75% built the way I want it as I am taking it into the direction of a resto mod looking all original but underneath will be updated with newer components. I picked up the car yesterday in Orlando and drove it back down to Miami with a special stop to see the one and only Chris with his bad a$$ 69 Killer Shark. Pictures do not do that car justice and his car was the inspiration for me buying my vette. He is a very nice guy and I can't thank him enough for taking me for a ride in that car. It was like I was 10 years old again and my first time in Disney on the best ride of my life. Next on my immediate list is the following to be completed before November (hopefully):

HotRod or Vintage Air Complete AC system
C5 Seats
4/5 point seat belts (need some safety as just a lap belt in a fiber glass shell is a little scary for me)
New carpeting with refltix and dynomat
CD player
Delete the vaccum headlights for electro actuators
Hooker Super Comp Headers with custom 2.5" exhaust & X-pipe

Lastly the final mod on my list will be sometime next year being a GM 425HP crate engine. The car with its gearing and L46 is pretty darn quick, but I would like to see mid to high 12's consistently at Moroso speedway.

Just wanted to say "hi" and tell you guys thanks for your advice over these past several months as your input really helped me to decide on what tranny options I wanted to go with along with stuff like the DeWitts radiators.

Cheers...Rob

Here are some pics of the car the day I bought it in Philly. Unfortunately I don't have any more pics as I have not not had the car in my possession until late yesterday.

Now where is that FL Corvette Challenge Series at Moroso going on next. Need to have some fun with the car at the drag strip.

Dang it...now I just looked up the Corvette Series Challenge and see they had it last night at 7:30pm. While I could not have raced because I need to properly break-in everything it still would have been cool to stop by to watch since I went pass Moroso at 6pm yesterday. Next Aug 5th I will be there and hope to be in the mid 13's but I really need to work on my shiftiing and launches so we shall see.

Rob has a really sharp car and it drives excellent. Nobody would be ashamed to take this red drop top cruising. It has all the right stuff in the right places. It is an impressive ride. The ROD6 is a perfect addition.

I appreciate you letting me take it for a spin.
