Default Vader vette

All you 75 owners look under the hood and tell me if A wire just starts at the bottom of their hood (from the drivers side) and dissapears under the center area at the top of the hood seems like it should be a light ,but see no light could this be for the alarm (Mer switch)?
Thanks for the HELP

That wire goes to the solenoid that opens and closes the air inlet door at the back of your hood scoop.

there is a switch for the solenoid down by the gas pedal. when you floor it, the solenoid is supposed to open the flap.

if you turn your ignition on with out the motor running, you should hear the soleniod move when you mash the gas.

hope this helps,

Mike.

mine is still there. isn't crumbeling and dosent look too terible yet, so i will just leave it alone for now.

i have read several posts where people have removed their hood insulation with out problem, but can not personally vouch for not needing it.

What does 'Vader Vette' mean? Why is this the title to the thread about a suspicious wire in the hood? Honestly I did not know what to expect when I clicked on the thread, but I was curious.
