I have in the shop for a few days an 82 Collector. It has 22000 miles on it and I have worked on the car for at least 12 years.I'm about 99.99% sure the car is correct and original. If any of you with 82 Collectors would like some info from this car let me know.
Just for my curiosity, how do you release the rear hatch - inside, outside, both? If it has an outside release, is it lockable and is it tied into the door locks?

Its a small t handle inside behind driver seat.sorta between seat and door-if window is open it is easy to reach in and release-should have been on all of them since 78-nice feature-actually thats one of the things I'm working on,I'm waiting on lift cylinders
I agree, the lift back glass is the one option I wish my non-CE '82 had. I thought about getting a CE instead of a two-tone but research revealed replacement parts for a CE (what's available; the body faded stripes were not) are even more expensive. This steered me back to the two-tone.
ddbjr-I sent you a pm about your request for pics but it doesnt show that I sent it.I will send you the pics if I can figure out how.You might have to send your e address and I can send them direct.

Wasn't a kit offered in the 80s to install the rear hatch stuff on non-CE bubble-backs?
Yes but I dont know what happened to it.I've had requests for it but its not in any of my catalogs.I think it was all GM parts and they have been discontinued.Imagine that!
I have an '80 and to get to the cargo area, you just push the seat back forward, simple.
My brother has an '82 CE and his drivers side seat back will not push forward. Are we missing something or is their a seat problem? Passenger side works fine.

Yes he has a small problem. There is a pendulum that swings forward in an accident or hard braking to keep contents behind the seat from coming forward.Sounds like its stuck!
Technically, my '82 CE has 454 miles on it now - I had to drive it to the storage unit :-) But yes, like the original poster I'm glad to help out if I can. I travel a lot, but I can usually find time to snap a few pics here and there ...

You might want to either have your CE NCRS judged or displayed at an NCRS event....they are always interested in inspecting very low mileage cars adding to the knowledge base.
