Before and after pictures (do not look if you have a weak stomach)
This is before the thieving bastards.
This is after the thieving bastards.
I live in a small community, so I didnt think twice about putting my 81 in storage for a few weeks while my 69 Firebird project took up the garage. One evening I get a phone call from the Police in a neighboring town asking if I own a red Corvette. I answer yes and he asks if I know where it is. I explain it's in storage a few miles from home. He then asks when was the last time I saw it, and my heart sunk. He then said they found a Corvette that had been chopped and dumped, and thay traced the vin # to me. Long story short, the results are obvious. The car is a total loss. While there were suspects, no arrests have been made.
Thank god for Hagerty insurance for being so good to work with. I would rather have my car than the insurance money, at least there was compensation for my lost.
Morale of the story? Keep your cars close.

Oop's, meant to post in General discussion. Sorry

That almost made me throw up. I would break their fingers with a hammer, all of them. Next time they went to grab something that wasn't theirs, they would look at them twisted up fingers and think twice about it. I am mourning your loss.

dayyumm...
I don't get why they they sawzalled up the front end though.
Your parts might end up on ebay, that's one way to find the f***ers.
Was that like a paid-storage place? If it was then first place I'd look for suspects would be their employees....

I'm really sorry that you had to experience that.
Did the insurance company let you keep the car? If so, are you going to part out the remains?

Not sure why the front end was cut either. Maybe they were trying to get it out of the way to pull the engine easier. The rear end appeared to be cut out with a torch. They even ripped the dash loose. Can't imagine what they were thinking. Just trying to destroy it I guess.
The insurance adjuster asked if I wanted to keep the car. I didnt even ask what it would cost. Knowing it was beyond rebuild I didnt really want to deal with it. I figured out of sight, out of mind. (didnt work)

Sorry to hear about this, this is terrible .
Please post pics of the thieving bastards both before and after you get ahold of them
Are you going to get the car going again? I have a 68, but if there's something in my stash of extra parts you can use I'll be happy to donate

That is total bs I hope they get shot trying to sell those parts. Better yet, you should look around for some vette parts on the blackmarket and do what has to be done... Sorry for your loss I would cry if that happened to me.

Wow that's enough to make you sick. Keep a look out for parts, also if it is a small community they will find the ba$tards. THey took the trailing arms too ? .... look for a shop that fixes Corvettes and ebay a good bet too

Who ever took it knew what they wanted, engine, rear suspension, doors, hood etc. That is a very tough loss for you. If you ever find them piece them out body part by body part with a sawzall.

Have you already talked to Hagerty? I'm curious as to how they will handle this, since their policy says the car MUST be stored in a locked garage at your residence or at a garage.
I have Hagerty too, and have always wondered how a situation like this would be handled.
