I've been trying to figure this starting probelm out. but with no success. so I was wondering if anyone knew of someone in the houston area (west side is were I am, near sugerland )could help me out.
the car will not start. had the starter and the battery checked both checked out fine. it may be in the wiring. but I have not been successful in getting any closer than that.
Has the car ever started or is this the first time since restoration. My son's car is a project car and we had to connect all the wires and the lockout before we could get it to turn over. Try connecting the battery and then take a long screwdriver and lay it between the two posts on the starter. When it touches both, the starter should turn over. If so, then start looking at the ignition wiring or the lockout. Our problem turned out to be that the clutch lockout needed to be wired before the key would turn over the starter. Hope this helps.
The was running great a few weeks ago. IS the fuseable link a fuse ina wire? I did check all the fuses inthe fuse box, those looked fine. thanks for the reply's I'll keep working on it.
Mine did this after winter storage. Lightly tapped the starter solenoid with a wooden hammer and she fired. I figure the solenoid was sticking due to combination of old age and humidity. It did it sporadically a couple more times after that and now shes fine. Can't hurt to give it a shot. If that doesn't work then you can start backtracking an electrical problem.

I'm not sure what a fusable link is.
The fuseable link will be located off of the starter solonoid. Just follow the wiring up from the solonoid and you will find the fuseable line. It will look like a bulge in the wire and will possible be wrapped in electrical tape. Did you try and put the ignition in the run position and stick a screwdriver across the solonoid terminals to see if the car cranked?
Good suggestions, also check the engine ground strap on the passengers side. It is a black cable from the starter support bracket to the passengers side motor mount frame area. Even if it is loose it can result in your problem.
