Yea, Sunday before last we entered the local corvette show Ears & Gears Show. The venue is called Wild Things and houses a very nice small animal collection. The animals are used mostly for TV shows, movies and commericals. Anyway, we were presented with one of the sponsor awards (Very nice plaque). From there (Monday) we headed for Clear Lake, Ca. for a week of fishn'. This lake is used for many Bass Tournaments.....wow! the fishn' was unreal...Rich, check out the 8.2 pounder! On the last morning (Sat.) I caught 16 and Joanne caught 7. It was like this all week! Average weight approx. 3.2 lb's. From there 4 hour drive back home...did we anxiously take the vette out on a drive Sunday...ummmm...nice to be back!!!
Congrats on both trophies..Vette and bass..that was good fishing and catching... Your 8.2 ties mine caught at San Vincente in 1987..
Son and I are heading for Lake Hodges tomorrow...you made a good decision going to Clear Lake...Dixon has been slow..
Here is the skin mount of my 8.2:
Get one on the wall !!!

Ah! now I see the skin mount...nice!!! Yea, I do want a skin mount..but the one in your back yard...smile! I still plan on coming down your way...Maybe in Aug. By the way, who did the skin mount? I'm gonna need his name!!! Good luck tomorrow!
I love all the trophys! The vette, the fish and ______ did you ask her to marry you yet? She is a looker and she does interiors and works on the vette? You better take care of your woman! hahaha

A guy in Ramona,Ca...I'll check to see if he still does them..you have to freeze the bass..then he does his thing...most get "replica" mounts these days..you measure length, girth, get weight, and photo...that way you release the bass...they do a good job...like this one:
Sounds like you were throwing crankbaits...we are going to throw 12" plastic worms at em...

Congrats!
LittleJake: you trying to get me in trouble just kidding, Joanne is a blast to be with...we do seem to have a lot in common (Match dot com...) Now if I can just get her to clean those critters .
Rich: From what I can see in the Pic's... it looks like the skinned one looks better. Whats your observation from there? Sure would appreciate the guys name in Ramona!!! I'm gonna need him lol
Your also correct in the crankbates, basically anything brown & orange. I tried one whole day with plastic worms for a bigger bite...no go and went back to the cranks. Hey, do you subscribe to WON? Western Outdoor News? IF not, PM me your address and I'll send ya the latest issue. They come out weekely and are a great resourse? And yea, Clear Lake was on fire...apparently, that is the norm! If ya ever go, I have a great map and even better pointers from the locals. Nice tackle shop too...Main & 11th
I agree with you on the skin mount...the color is off in the belly/gills on the replica...my skin mount was done in 1987....I'll see if I can get his name tomorrow or thursday...or,someone else that does them...
We have been getting a good worm bite here...they are spawned out and deep and water surface temps are 75+...at Hodges, there is excellant structure,brush,rocks,etc...hope to nail a nice one...may throw some "pig & Jig"....
I get WON now and then...have not subscribed though...thanks...If I go to Clear Lake, I'll contact you...
Rich
Congrats, that Vette should win everytime.
More pics next time
Thanks Demonsvette: I'll check the pic's Joanne took as I'm getting a bit slack in that area lately... just drivn' now
Rich: yea I can relate to the water temp, 74 @ Clear Lake and somewhat deep... Hey note this: Where ya want to say in Clear Lake (we know this now)!!! is, and where we stayed (have to reserve) is State Park but,!!! you want to reserve camp 58,59,or 60 which are premimum camp sites which are nestled in, right beside the water. Their located in "Kelsey Creek Campground" The whole Kelsey Creek campground is very nice, but those camps are really nice. Also, the lake is huge, so if you were taking your setup (boat) it would work as the State Campround is surrounded by tulies!!! Good luck today!!!
Got four bass this morning...just squirts...bite was plastic worms right off the bank throwing parallel...they only would hit the metallic blue...there was an algae bloom but not heavy...(should have known with the hot weather) 97 today.....about 1 PM the wind came up..hot and dry....killed the bite...
We fished Clear Lake many years ago...no boat..think we were in a private campground...good shore fishing...
