Default Converting automatic to 4 Speed

Hello,

Question:

Has anyone converted thier automatic vette to a 4 speed?

What all is involved.

and if so what did it cost?

I'm looking to convert a 69 coupe.

Later,

Michael

My .02, but this swap is not worth the cost, time, or effort. Keep your '69 stock.

If you have to have a 4 speed car, trade the auto and get the stick.

You could study the assembly instruction manual, compare the stock installations, and come up with a good idea of what this undertaking is going to require.

If you must have a stick, and have an auto. Go with one of the 5 speed conversion kits. They're much more user friendly.

I think inflation has caught up to your $0.02.

I'm with you i don't like slush boxes either. however if you make the switch i would suggest a 5 speed instead of the 4 speed for cruising.

Just to answer your question, I completed a TH400 to Muncie swap back in April, and had many of my questions answered by members of this forum. The whole job cost me about $2000. If you're not mechanically inclined or if you're impatient or lazy it will cost more. Just my .02, it was worth every red cent. I have compiled copious information on this job including fotos, a complete parts list, and a blow-by-blow description of the job. Email me if you'd like to see them.
