Here is a pic of my upper windshield molding for the '79.
As you can see it has 10 "teeth" coming down from it. Mine is painted but underneath it appears to be one that was originally black. On my upper windshield frame I have 3 holes towards the ends and none in the middle.
Question: Do I have an incorrect molding since I have so many teeth on it.? How can I secure the clips that go towards the middle if there are no holes there?
Rob
On my 72 it had all the clips. I suspect if you look had you either have the holes there filled with stuff or they have been broke/rusted off.
The screws that were there are very small with a phillips head.
The only way to get the screws out or in is with the windshieldout.
I have a question about the molding posted. does this molding get installed first then the left and right pillar molding go on next covering the end of the top molding you posted, Thanks AL.

Yes, the pillars will cover (overlap) the ends of this molding.
Can you comment on my original question?

Thanks for your follow up! As far as comment on your question, The C3 only had 2 upper center moldings I'm aware of. Early 68 and late 68-82 with only one difference, they were painted black in the later C3s for D.O.T. safty reasons. As far as the attaching clips there should be a clip for each tab on the molding. The clips can only be replace with windshield removed. AL.
Uhmmm, an additional question on the clips. I am working on a leak around my windshield and I found my clips set into the epoxy. In fact a few of them were loose so I epoxied them back in. Are they supposed to be screwed into the fram?

Yes, these clips are screwed in to the windshield frame and to replace them the windshield must be removed, AL.
I have seen a varying number of these clips installed for different years.
For my resto - I installed them all. I recall 9 ... but will try to check tonight.
Doc Rebuild calls out 6 in the install kit.
If not there (and you want them), then you need to remove the glass and drill screw holes.
If the middle clips don't scew in what holds the clips that hol;ds the molding tab? AL.
Im not shure why their not screwed in but they are needed to keep the trim at a even spacing (gap) they seem to stay pressed into the moulding . It seems the factory used a little bit of bedding compound on them prior to install,so that is how I put it back in place. Maybe the factory was saving time , or it gave more room for the glass install (adjustment) ???
