Loud squeeeel then nothing
all belts looked good (air pump is disconnected). Started it again and had the same squeel. The alternator belt felt a little warm (alt is 3mo. old).
Didn't have time to screw with it so I took my truck to work, went home at lunch and it started up and ran quiet, no problem. I had not driven it for 4 days prior. It is very humid here today. Maybe just a belt?? anyone have a similar situation? Should I check something?
Thanks
Mark
First time belts were replaced, it was fine in the summer but in winter, it 'squeeeeeeeee'd in the morning when car had been sitting overnight in cold weather... I was told that some belt replaced was the wrong size and they replaced it again.
Took a roadtrip last month and needed Belts replaced afterwards and it 'sqeeeeeeee'd as I drove off from the shop and they said something about the tension... and adjusted it.
Not sure its completely alright cause theres still a very slight 'squee' once in a while when I turn on the ignition but I think I'll have to wait till the temp gets cold to find out if it's gonna be a problem.
