Default TH 400 kickdown switch

I'm tired of messing with that OEM kickdown switch hidden up above the gas pedal. Anybody have any advice on another switch of some other make or model I could put on the carb linkage? I could easily cobble something up but I would prefer to use something official, not bubba.
'73 SBC w/ OEM Q-jet, TH 400, hood flapper deleted, A/C fast idle solenoid will be reinstalled someday when I get to that project.

Thanks, John

Whats wrong with the switch? I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that the same switch operates the hood flapper, which I noticed you have deleted, so maybe the flapper part of the wiring is causing the problems. Otherwise, it is a pretty simple device that is self setting, you first need to reset it, and then put the gas to the floor to set it to operate properly. You reset it by pusing the moving part of the switch all the way forward towards the front of the car, and then the first time you floor the gas, it will set itself to the proper depth to close the switch. When properly set, you can hear the solenoid in the tranny click when the engine is off and you floor the gas. Hope this helps.

It still triggers, it's just stuck to the point where it will no longer reset and the only way I can make it work is by putting pieces of oil lines on the switch post and the pedal rod to increase their diameter to engage the switch. Very teknacul presishon bubba injenering. And in a week or two they move or rotate or fall off. And besides, whichever friggin' designer who decided to put the #@*&%!! thing up there in the first place deserves to spend the rest of eternity trying to work on it while sweating and wearing bifocals. To h*** with it in that location. Between my friggin blind-azz eyeballs and big-azz fingers which have almost no feeling left in them, I just can't get in there.
If you'd like, I could expound further on my true feelings about it!
Just looking for ideas.....

John
