who do you get to mount and balance them for you? and how would tire rack do a warranty? that is my only concern with ordering from them.

I have Discount mount them They tell me the same sh*t...can't get them for a week...then I show up 2 days later with the tires and say "Mount these". I don't think they will give a road hazard, though.

Had to order mine also in Lewisville. I just went 245 BG's on the front. You will probably have to do the same thing I did and show the kid how to put four pin trim rings on. He had never seen them before.

If you are a costco member they have BF Goodrich for good prices. I bought Michelins from them but looked at the BFG's. Took two days for my order to arrive.

I'd just order them through Discount and get the road hazard. 5-7 days isn't that long. If you drive your car much, it's well worth it.

At least up here in Michigan, Discount is about the best tire shop to deal with. They have always given me the benefit of the doubt anytime I've had a problem with a tire.

My buddy went into Discount last week to get a new tire on his Subie, due to a vibration that he thought was a broken steel belt. They re-balanced the tire and told him it was fine, and didn't charge him anything. The tire was not purchased there.

I was trying to find the same tires here in Atlanta about a month ago. The tires are on back order and have been for several months. Sears even told me they were discontinued. (WTF) I have been buying the BFG TA for years. It seems that none of the tire shops can get them. I ended up putting Firestone Indy 500s on the car and I have to say I am quite impressed with thwm.

Went to Sears and got mine. They had the best price. But that was a couple of years ago. Larry

Summit. Best price, 2 day delivery. Road hazard is a waste of money on a vette, you won't hit anything big and the tires are pretty cheap to buy.

I just recently compared prices from Tirerack (plus shipping and mounting balancing) and DiscountTire.....

BFG tire KDW ('sport') 255-45-17 - $106 at Tirerack and $136 at DiscountTire.

Well, at DiscountTire they add $10 for mounting, balancing and lifetime road hazard. incl. tax one tire is roughly $150.

The same tire shipped from Tirerack is $131 incl shipping (they quoted $50 for two tires). Now you need to find somebody to mount the tire for you

The local DiscountTire guy told me they charge $25 per tire if I bought the tire elsewhere.....

If you are going to the 255/60-15 size tire from a different size, be sure to have your wheels aligned.

You better double check the 255/60's on the front. Not all vette's can take the bigger tires up front w/out rubbing the inner fenter and its not a pretty sound. I tried 255's (too big) then 235's (too small) and settled on 245/60/15's on the front and 255/60/15's on the rear (you may be able to get a 275/60 on the rear that's about the biggest you can fit on a 15x8 rim). The car sits nice and handles great w/this combo. When I had to 255's on all four my son said it looked like a 4x4 vette. Not the look I was going for. Anyway my buddies who I gave away the 235's & 255's for half price love me.

at the moment i have 255/65-15 all the way around and they don't rub. but i will double check just to make sure before i order them. i really want the same size all the way around so i can rotate them periodically.

Default Tires Ain't Pretty

I buy from Tire Rack. What great people. When I had one damaged and went to have a new one mounted here in the Daytona Beach area, the only place I found that could handle those monstous 345/35 ZR15's was Discount. What a surprise. Quick and not expensive!
I like the idea about drop shipping. Never thought of that, but I know trying to carry 2 of those suckers in a vette is FTB (for the birds) Glenn
