Default Here are the broken pistons!

Here are two photos of the pistons once the builder took the rings out. The lands fell off into his hands. I am very lucky it didn't take the motor out! No signs yet of any detonation. Has to be defective pistons from SRP. They only have less than 5,000 miles on them. Glenn

If you were in CT I'd say it looks like the results of a guy named Ralph who likes machine blocks oversize. I think he figures it's a good way for return business- if you don't check his work.

Check the bore diameter to see that it is machined for the pistons before blaming the parts.

Yeah it was checked. In fact the builder put the rings (once removed) back into the cyl to check and make sure the gap wasn't too tight. Exactly where he had set it, and the walls don't have a mark on them. I caught them early enough I guess. So that overheating problem turned out to be a good thing after all. Imagin if I had done the whole power tour including racing at three drag strips in June!! Glenn
